Ten parts, always in the same order.

Chapters run from 12 to 25 pages depending on how much syllabus they carry, but the shape never changes. You learn where things are once.

01

Title block

Chapter number, syllabus topic code and a short lead saying what the topic is for.

02

Toolkit strip

A four-panel figure showing the instruments and ideas the chapter is about to use.

03

What this chapter covers

The syllabus outcomes, transcribed in Cambridge’s wording, split Core and Supplement.

04

Contents

Every numbered section, so you can jump straight to the one you are weak at.

05

Concept map

One diagram showing how the parts of the topic connect before you meet them separately.

06

Numbered sections

One per syllabus outcome, each opening with a Core or Supplement marker.

07

Definitions

Set apart in their own block wherever Cambridge expects the words back exactly.

08

Right way / wrong way

Paired panels on the mistake that loses the mark, and what to write instead.

09

Worked examples

Five or six, each ending with a note on what the examiner is checking here.

10

Summary

A table whose rows mirror the syllabus outcomes one for one, plus the habits that carry the topic.

Core and Supplement

Marked on every section, not just listed at the front.

Cambridge examines Core candidates on Papers 1 and 3, Extended candidates on Papers 2 and 4. Mixing the two wastes a Core student’s time and leaves an Extended student short.

Core

196 outcomes across the 24 chapters. Everything a Core candidate is examined on, and the foundation every Extended candidate also needs.

Supplement

127 further outcomes for Extended candidates only. Chapter 6 — Momentum — is entirely Supplement; Chapter 19 — Electrical Safety — has none at all.

Two spreads from Chapter 1.

Both of these are printed pages, not designed for the website. The 211 figures are original vector art in the book’s own palette, so they print crisp at full size.

A spread on converting between prefixes
Pages 6–7 · The prefix ladder, the right-way / wrong-way pair, and the conversion drill that follows it.
A page on random and systematic error
Page 19 · Random versus systematic error — what repeating helps with, and what it cannot.

Every image on this page is a real page from the book, photographed from the printed file — not a mock-up.

Read Chapter 1 before you order.
