IGCSE Physics 0625 Topic-Wise Past Papers: What Is in Each Topic

Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 is organised into six topics. Practising past paper questions topic by topic is the quickest way to find which of them you can already do and which need work.

The six topics of IGCSE Physics 0625

These are the six topics, with their subtopics, as they are arranged in ExamYard’s IGCSE Physics 0625 question bank.

  1. Motion, Forces and Energy: physical quantities and measurement techniques, motion, mass and weight, density, forces, momentum, energy, work and power, and pressure.
  2. Thermal Physics: the kinetic particle model of matter, thermal properties and temperature, and transfer of thermal energy.
  3. Waves: general properties of waves, light, the electromagnetic spectrum, and sound.
  4. Electricity and Magnetism: simple phenomena of magnetism, electrical quantities, electric circuits, electrical safety, and electromagnetic effects.
  5. Nuclear Physics: the nuclear model of the atom, and radioactivity.
  6. Space Physics: the Earth and the Solar System, and stars and the universe.

How to practise by topic

Pick one subtopic at a time. Attempt every question on it, mark against the mark scheme, and note the ideas you missed. Topics such as Electric Circuits and Forces carry many calculation marks, so practise the equations and units until they are automatic. Topics such as Radioactivity and the Electromagnetic Spectrum reward precise wording, so learn the exact phrases the mark schemes use. Our guide on how to use topical past papers sets out the full method.
